The MG3 Might Just Be the Practical, Affordable, and Fun-to-Drive Car We All Need

MG Philippines unveiled several new models during the recently held MIAS which include the the sexy MG Cyberster, the IM LS7 from their luxury division, the MG7, MG4 Power, several MPVs, and a fully electric version of their best-seller ZS: the MG ZS EV.

Out of all the new offerings, that one that got me really excited to get my hands on is their contender to the B-segment hatchback arena: the MG3.  It reminds me of several hatchbacks which really made an impression on me such as the Suzuki Swift, the EK3 Honda Civic and my all-time favorite Honda Jazz.  All of them are practical, affordable and a joy to drive around.

Here’s hoping we get the Hybrid

Although full specs of the local variant are unknown at the moment, a quick look at international web sites point out that there’s a 1.5L version which packs 109hp and 142Nm of torque.  Digging a little further, there’s also one which makes almost 200hp thanks to a hybrid system – now that’s exciting.

We can just imagine the power to weight ratio of that setup along with its price to performance ratio (hopefully it’ll come in at under 1M or just slightly above it).  And since it’s a hybrid, there’s also exemption from the number coding scheme.

There’s just one more thing which I’m really curious about: does it come in yellow?  Stay tuned for more updates!
